Originally by: CCP Soundwave Alliance Tournament 7 had 26 pirate ships. That's not a great deal spread over a tournament. So far, Alliance Tournament 8 has seen 194. That's a massive increase, which shows that the total pirate ship contribution is actually higher than the total Gallente ship contribution. People apparently more excited by pirate ships than French ships.

Despite being quite different to TQ, this still says a lot...
Yet some of the most successful teams in the tournament utilised Gallente ships as the mainstay, most notably HYDRA with their 3 Myrm setup.
Whilst I love the amount of effort put into this. Gallente do have the substantial bonus at current of an extremely powerful weapon system that on the the BS' especially provide 'easy mode' battleship warfare. Most Megathron setups revolved around fitting a number of plates, pressing the mwd towards the target, activating offensive modules, then make a cup of tea whilst the battle is resolved for you
I very much agree the Deimos and Astarte need a look into. They provide absolutely nothing over the T1 counterpart. Having weaker and stronger ships in each race provides a level of balance, however much we dont like it. Gallente already have the Domi which is utterly glorious, with about 50 different fittings. The Hype which is one of the best active tanking BS's in the game and the Mega which is everyone's one stop shop for a plate pain train.
Minni ships have been given a nice boost and Amarr will always have Abaddon's topping the BS table for damage and tank possibilities. However all ships come at a cost. Abaddon's run themselves out of cap just firing their guns and need extensive cap injection. Generally, they handle like potatoes too, even with an mwd.
I don't like changing ships for the sake of changing them...Gallente already have some of the most effective ships in every class. (Vexor, Thorax, Ishtar, Taranis, Megathron, Thanatos, Nyx, Incursus, Ishkur, Myrm, Brutix) to name but a few. People will try off the wall fittings on them because they are so good, they actually allow you to do that. It's not that they are bad at all! There are only a few ships in the game you could structure tank well for example. The Navy Domi and Mega are always at the top of the table though.
It's tough to see equilibrium as progress. But for the most part here, change is just not needed. The ones I definitely agree with however are the Deimos and Astarte. Eos needs a bit of loving too.
